Clydestyle Furniture is a family partnership that has been creating leather furniture and all facets of upholstery, cabinet making and automotive trimming for more than 43 years. Skills have been passed on from father and founder of the business Bill O'Connell to sons James and Kevin.

Our furniture is wholly New Zealand made using renewable resources in the manufacture of our frames, NZ sourced products as components and we recommend the use of first grade New Zealand leather from Tasman Tanning.

In 1988 the ClydeStyle Essex Leather wing chair earned the coveted New Zealand Designmark award. Only products of the highest quality and workmanship gain this award and the same stringent quality control guidelines are in force today. High standards are placed on the ability of the craftsmen, James and Kevin who operate the business with branches in Wairoa and Hastings.

James a trained cabinetmaker who qualified with an advanced Trade Certificate is also an industry assessor for the furniture-making industry. Kevin trained as an Upholsterer and Motor Trimmer, gaining highest marks in the Trade Certificate exam in 1991 for upholsterers throughout New Zealand. Both partners are talented designers and continue to expand on the classic manufactured range as well as developing customer ideas.

Our Upholstery Department The Upholstery department takes great pride in revealing the original glory of furniture - both antique and contemporary - through restoration or restyling pieces as desired. This may include leather re-colouring or frame repairs and woodwork re-polishing by our Cabinet department.
